He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Charles Rutledge, Margaret Rutledge Reeves and Christina Young. He is survived by: his parents, Jack Rutledge and Trinna Rutledge; his wife Vicky Moore Rutledge; his sons, Alex Rutledge Sheetz (Joel) and Jackson Rutledge; and his pets, Dixie and Cowboy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Homewood High School band.
