He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Rutledge and Minnie L. Rutledge; his brothers, Jerry Rutledge, Joe Rutledge and Otha Lee Rutledge; and his wife Judy Rutledge.

He is survived by: his sisters, Shirley Nelson (Kenny) of Tampa, Nancy Tillman of Tampa, Evelyn Rutledge Wright of Gadsden and Angela Hicks (James) of Attalla, AL; and his close friend Malcom Jackson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
