He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hickman and Lillie Mae Hickman; his daughter Tammy Hickman; his parents-in-law, Benny and Marie Steward; and his cousin Bill Wilson.
He is survived by: his wife Marilee Steward Hickman; his brothers, Douglas Hickman (Connie) and Benny Steward (Suzette); his nieces, Laura Walden, Mary Dollar, Kimberly Holmes (Josh), Katy McGowan (James Robinson) and Tara Powell; his great-nieces, Allie Walden and Morgan Dollar; his cousin Tim (Patsy Hollingsworth); his pets, Max, Harry, Olive, Lucy, Stella, Alexander and Milo; and his adoptive mother Karen Gritzmacher (Randy Harris).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gerald's memory to The Tabernacle Homeless Ministry, 1301 So 11th Street, Gadsden, AL 35904.
