He was predeceased by: his parents, Susan Grace Trawick Petty and Palmer Brooks Petty; and his former wife Betty Straughn Petty. He is survived by: his wife Jane Marriott Petty; his son George M. Petty, Jr. (Liz); and his stepchildren, Stephen J. Marriott (Miyuki) and Deborah Sindorf (Richard). He is also survived by step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
