He was predeceased by: his parents, E. E. Coley and Geneva Coley; and his sister Sandra Arrington. He is survived by: his children, Phillip Coley and Micah Coley; his daughter-in-law Brittney Hallmark; his grandchildren, James Joseph, Emma and Lilly Coley; his brothers, Bruce and Charles Coley; and his brother-in-law Larry Cribbs.

After school Benny continued to pursue his passion for sports by playing in church softball leagues and playing golf both in charity tournaments and recreationally throughout his life.
