She is survived by: her sons, Laverne Townsend (Cheryl) and Kevin (Tomasina); her siblings, James Townsend (Ocie), Terry Townsend, Paulette Ervin and Francis Burns; her grandchildren, Kevin Townsend, Jr. (Ari) of Baltimore, MD, DeAndre Townsend (Alison), U'kee Knowles and Quantez Knowles; her close friend Era Brewster; her godson Nathaniel King; and her cousin Barbara Moten-Williams (Tiffany).
