He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston Wood and Gladys Abernathy Wood; his son Joseph Steven Wood; and his brother Houston Clyde Wood. He is survived by: his wife Joan Deese Wood; his children, Rebecca Anne Wood and Mark Wood (Melissa Tidwell Wood); his great grandchildren, Carson and Brooklyn Barksdale; and his sisters-in-law, Annette Oliver and Gayle Harden. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Grants Creek Baptist Church, Scholarship Fund for needy children in Fosters, AL (13396 Grants Creek Road, Fosters, AL 35463).
