Randell Eric (Bubba) Darby Obituary
Randell "Yosemite" Eric Darby, 57, of Elizabethtown, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his home in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, from complications because of an illness. Randy was born May 23, 1960, at Fort Campbell. As with most Military BRATS, he attended many different schools until his graduation at East Hardin High School in 1978.
Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the U.S. Army in 1979 and proudly served until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant First Class in 1995. His service to his country continued as he worked for a private contractor maintaining and delivering heavy mobile equipment to forces in the Middle East until returning to Fort Knox and then on to Fort Benning for a position in the civil service as a heavy mobile equipment repairer until his untimely death.
Randy was an avid motorcycle rider and had belonged to several service-related organizations over the years. He was most proud and honored for the time he spent as a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association of Kentucky. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Major Donald E. Darby Sr. in 2013.
He is remembered with love by his only daughter, Brandy Darby; two grandsons, Benjamin Darby and Kellan Gould of South Carolina and a host of dearly loved and cherished friends, and his adorable little sidekick, Midget.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. Cremation commitment services will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff with military honors.
He is located at section 8 number 14 for those who would like to visit with him.
