He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvis McCarter and Fannie Mae McCarter; and his brother Charles McCarter. He is survived by: his wife Cecelia "Cile" Y. McCarter; his children, Kimberly M. Fraser (Terry), Rae Ann Brame and Bill McCarter (Jean); and his grandchildren, Mallie Quarles (Tony), Willie Ayres (Ryan), Olivia Brame, Caroline Brame, Lauren Nelson (Sage), Audrey Fraser, Bennie McCarter (Evelyn) and Rob McCarter.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forkland Methodist Church or Forkland Methodist Cemetery.
