In the sacred silence of farewell, Deacon James is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Deacon James' spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Smith and John Hale (Doc); his wife Minister Alice Hale; his children, Mary Lois Herbert, Jalice Hale Lawson (Sedrick) and Keith Payton; his sisters, Johnnie Mae Harrison, Arzell Smith and Nora Grayson; and his adoptive parent Wrights. He was also cherished by grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nephews, friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Rock West Missionary Baptist Church (7056 Forest Home Rd, Forest Home, AL 36030). A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at the Zion Rest Cemetery.
