He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Davis and Helen Dorman Davis. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Roberts Davis; his sons, Richard Davis (Margaret) and Michael "Randy" Davis (Lori); his grandchildren, Lesli Fason (Bill), Richard, Jr. Davis (Marrilee), Laura Davis (Laura Burke), Michael, Jr. Davis (Brooke), Leah Cooper and Will Davis; his great grandchildren, Sam, Mollie, Laekin, Oaklie, Maci, Olivia, Tripp, Laney, Clay and Richard, III; his brothers, Gene Davis (Sharon), Ray Davis (Linda) and Ron Davis; and his former wife Carol Davis. He is also survived by his family, friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations would be sent to renovate a treasured schoolhouse where he grew up and where his mother attended school or St. Mark's Lutheran Building Fund.
