He is survived by: his children, Duncan Averitt (Jane), Robert Averitt, Irene Averitt (Billy) and Rose Coffman; his daughter-in-law Gloria Howell Averitt; his grandchildren, Theresa (Scott), Chad (April), Kelly (Keith), Mark (Stephanie), Kenneth (Dusty), Bobby (Tanya), Robby (Nicole), Billy (Brandi), Krystal (Mikeal), Andrew (Keyana), Amanda (Nathan), Emory (Amber), Jamie (Theo) and Justin; his great grandchildren, Braxton, Hannah, Austin, Trinity, Tucker, Kaylie, Kaleb, Savannah, Nathan, Matthew, Dakota, Caitlin, Alanah, Alicia, Kyle, Kayla, Robby Jr., Chloe, Zachariah, Tyler, Sofia and Ellie; and his great great grandchildren, Wyatt and Weston. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
