He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Thornton; his son Joey Thornton; his parents, Thornton, Sr. Thornton and Lena Lawson Thornton; and his siblings, Thornton, Jr., Ralph Thornton and Jean Keef.
He is survived by: his sons, Tim (Marsha) and Shannon (Renee); and his grandchildren, Kyler, Taylor (Sawyer), Case, Anna and Foster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Tom to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Cerebral Palsy Center.
