He is survived by: his children, Shannon McMurtrey (Wendy) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Becky Phillips (Jamey) of Rogersville, AL.; his siblings, Steve McMurtrey (Debra) of Florence, Jeanette Harper (Larry) of Florence and Susan Shook (Reggie) of Hatton, AL.; and his grandchildren, Chase Azbell (Hannah Cummings) and Carter Azbell.

Memorials may be made to Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.
