He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leonard Cotten and Annie Jane Fyffe Cotten; his former wife Elizabeth G. Cotten; his wife Frankie M. Cotten; his grandson Tracy Ryan; his siblings, Mary C. Tolle, John Cotten, Ernest Cotten, Wilburn Cotten, Herbert Cotten and Harlan Cotten; his sons-in-law, John Charles and Quintin Hughes; and his stepchildren-in-law, Rita Craighead and Bob Craighead.
He is survived by: his children, Sara J. Ryan, Carolyn Hughes, Irene Charles and Oliver Cotten, Jr. (Yun); his stepson Eddie Grigg (Mary); his grandchildren, Tina Rigsby Connell, Stacy Ryan, Paul Ryan, Rose Cotten, Daniel Cotten, Richard Charles and Brandy Hinds; his great grandchildren, Sierra Austin, Chance Rigsby, Kinley Charles, Caleb Charles, Israel Longworth and Gabriyel Hinds; his great great grandchildren, Ollie Austin and Eli Austin; and his stepgrandchildren, Andrea Craighead, Will Grigg and Sam Grigg.
