He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Lorenzo Alston, Sr. and Tommie Lee Wright Alston; his brothers, Johnnie Lee Bommer, Don Ray Alston and Robert James Alston; his sister-in-law Vivian Johnson Alston; his nephew Willie James Bommer; his niece Fatina Lashay Harris; and his great-nephew Anthony McFarland.

He is survived by: his siblings, Teresa Kay Alston Harris (Lyndon) of Tuscumbia, AL and Billy Wayne Alston (Ann) of Nokesville, VA; his nieces and nephews, Teresa Marie Bommer-Brown, Sabrina Dowell, LaQuince Johnson, Eugene McFarland, Johnny Bommer, Robert Alston Jr. and Billy W. Alston Jr.; and his great-niece Precious. He is also survived by great-nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
