He was predeceased by : his parents, Alvin Lorenzo Alston, Sr. and Tommie Lee Wright Alston; his brothers, Johnnie Lee Bommer, Don Ray Alston and Robert James Alston; his sister-in-law Vivian Johnson Alston; his nephew Willie James Bommer; his niece Fatina Lashay Harris; and his great-nephew Anthony McFarland.

He is survived by : his siblings, Teresa Kay Alston Harris (Lyndon) of Tuscumbia, AL and Billy Wayne Alston (Ann) of Nokesville, VA; his nieces and nephews, Teresa Marie Bommer-Brown, Sabrina Dowell, LaQuince Johnson, Eugene McFarland, Johnny Bommer, Robert Alston Jr. and Billy W. Alston Jr.; and his great-niece Precious. He is also survived by great-nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, June 15th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mars Hill Church of Christ (1330 Mars Hill Rd, Florence, AL 35630). A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 15th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
