He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughter Sharron Denise Pugh; his sister Rebecca Irby; his parents, James Edwin Pugh, Sr. and Edna Rebecca Pugh of Bay Springs, MS; his wife Martha Pugh of Flomaton, AL; his children, James Edwin Pugh, III (Nicole) of Gulf Breeze, FL and Rebecca Cleo Cahill (Ed) of Milton, FL; his brothers, David Pugh (Beverly) of Gautier, MS, Ray Pugh (Debbo) of Louin, MS and John Pugh (Barbara) of Sylvarena, MS; his brother-in-law Bob Fortune (Betty) of Helene, GA; his sisters, Mary Smith of Bay Springs, MS, Dora Chatam of Birmingham, AL and Rachel Jackson (Donn) of Archdale, NC; and his grandchildren, Cory Cardwell, Carly Cardwell, Ashley Retherford (Tucker), Krystal Cahill, Trevor Pugh and Meredith Pugh. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
