He is survived by: his wife Clara Slater Schofield; his sons, Stephen Schofield (Debbie) of Dahlonega, GA and Philip Schofield (Michelle); his grandchildren, Faith, Luke, Nathan, Sam and Paul; and his brother Anthony Schofield (Bobbie).

“I am Dr. Joseph H. Childress of Farragut TN. Curt and I were best of friends from the time he arrived with his family. It was in the fall of 1951 we met. Curt, Dr (Rev.) Bill Rodgers, and I spent many hours in the basement of the old First Methodist Church "hanging out" and playing Ping-Pong. Dr. Berwanger attempted to recruit the three of us into the ministry and he got two of we three. Curt and I were on the LHS football team and I was the fullback to Curt's blocking back.”
