He was predeceased by: his mother Ella Louise Dumpson; his brothers, Wayne Dumpson, Irvin Dumpson and Ronnie Dumpson; and his son Melvin Dumpson, Jr..
He is survived by: his brothers, Ralph Dumpson and Warren Dumpson; and his children, Theresa Dumpson, Brian Savage (Stacey), Etoryah Kami (Kamran Butt), Tiwana Dumpson, Mary Sparks (Kenneth), Matthew Dumpson (Regina), Joshua Dumpson (Monica), Shekinah Lawler (Lanzier) and Brittany Wyatt. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
