He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Harkins Kelley; his grandson Justin Kelley; his parents, Jack Kelley and Annie Bell Hudson Kelley; and his siblings, Edward Kelley, Earnest Kelley, Jackie Kelley, Imogene Carroll, Martha Stripling and Mogene Stamps.

He is survived by: his children, Jim Kelley (Nancy) of Northport and Cindy Duckworth of Fayette; and his siblings, Harold Kelley of Bessemer and Gladys Maddox of Winfield. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
