He was predeceased by: his wife Clemmie Nelson; his grandson John Aaron Stamps; his parents, Aaron Nelson and Velma Abernathy Nelson; and his siblings, William Nelson, Eloise Wright and Lyndall Harbin.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne Nelson (Susan) of Fayette and Shirley Stamps of Fayette. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
