He was predeceased by: his mother Effie Mae Dixon; his brother Bobby Dixon; his daughter Reagan Whitson; and his nephew Darrell Dixon. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Whitson Dixon of Fayette; his children, Daniel S. Dixon (Amber) of Fayette, Brittni Whitson (Quinton) of Northport and Kayla Lacy (Tavaris) of Elrod; his siblings, Narvel Dixon (Marissa) of Fayette, Oliver Dixon of Fayette, Ollie Dixon (Debra) of Fayette, Eugene Dixon and Charlotte Jackson (James) of Tennessee; his goddaughter Virettia Whiteside-Bridges; and his grandchildren, Dionna, Sandi, Ryleigh, Takyla, Daniel Jr. and Mariah.
