It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel Jonas Stagg Jr. in Fairhope, Alabama, who passed away on September 2, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Russell Stagg; and his parents, Samuel Jonas and Frances Smith Stagg of Basile. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Lily and Emmie; his children, Samuel Jonas Stagg, III (Julie Wenger Stagg), Susan Stagg Simon (Louis Simon), Stephen Woodson Stagg (Gena Remy Stagg), David Edward Stagg (Mona Murrel Stagg) and Nancy Stagg Fontenot (Paul Emery Fontenot); and his stepdaughters, Marie Leger, Lisa Leger Brown (Paul Eugene Brown) and Elizabeth Leger Cuevas. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family asks everyone to wear a mask to the visitation, service, and burial.
In remembrance of Dr. Stagg's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to LSU Medical School or The Eunice Players' Theatre.
