She was predeceased by: her daughter Tammy Lynn Smith; her parents, Eunice V. Hayes Johnson and Hiram Tucker; and her sister Waudine Williams. She is survived by: her husband James Edward Thomas, Jr.; her children, Christina Stacey, Charles Anthony Smith and James Edward Halzak; her grandchildren, Brandon Boatwright, Marcus "Bo" Boatwright, Kassi "Cat" Archer, Cameron, Archer and Charlie Stacey; her uncle J. D. Hayes; and her daughters-in-law, Margaret "Mike" Everett and Dana Stacey. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Processing Center, P.O. Box 863765.
