He was predeceased by: his wife Rachel Rebecca Brooks; his parents, Vaughn Brooks and Ibbie Brooks; and his siblings, Kate Sawyer, Polly Sawyer and Cecil Brooks.

He is survived by: his children, Randy Brooks of Excel and Sherry Minnick (Darryl) of Milton, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Aericka O'Neal Mosley, David Brooks and Devin Brooks.
