Crishun Eric Russaw Obituary
Crishun Eric Russaw, a gentle soul known affectionately as Crishun, left this world far too soon on March 11, 2024, after an extended illness. Born on November 26, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, Crishun's brief time on earth was filled with love and tenderness that touched everyone around him.
In his short journey, Crishun radiated a loving presence that brought joy and comfort to his family. His parents, Zachire Peterson and Chris Russaw, cherished every moment with their brave little boy. Crishun's maternal grandparents, Dashanna Collins and Santion Peterson; great grandparents, Tammy (John) Maybin, Annie Dixon, and William Caine; and his great great great great aunt, Addie Allen; as well as his paternal grandparents, Pakita (Roosevelt) Peterson; great grandparents, Pearcy Hill Jr. and Mary Hamp Spann; great aunt, Inita "Tina" Stanford; and a special great great aunt, Jan Russaw (Harper) McNeal, surrounded him with unwavering support and affection. Although he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eric Russaw, the legacy of love within the family continued to flourish.
Though his life was not measured in years but in the warmth, he spread, Crishun's impact on those around him was profound. He spent most of his young life at the Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, where he was cared for by an amazing team of healthcare professionals. Their dedication to Crishun's well-being was a testament to the nurturing environment that enveloped him.
Crishun's education was not of traditional academics, but rather, he taught those around him the true meaning of strength and perseverance. Despite the challenges he faced, Crishun's loving and gentle nature remained unscathed. His ability to inspire love and evoke compassion in others was his greatest lesson to the world.
As we bid farewell to Crishun, we remember a life that, while brief, was full of significance. His was a presence that reminded us all to cherish every moment, to love unconditionally, and to face adversity with a gentle spirit. Crishun's legacy is one of love, a reminder that the purest heart can leave an indelible mark on the world.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Children's Hospital of Alabama for their tireless efforts and compassionate care. Crishun's journey was made more comfortable and filled with love because of their commitment. They would also like to extend thanks to the Abbeville Rescue, Henry County Sheriff's Office, Headland Police Department, Pitcher Ambulance, and Life Flight.
A celebration of Crishun's life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Argene Carroll of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024. Crishun will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens of Eufaula Cemetery following the services on Saturday.
As we lay Crishun to rest, we hold onto the precious memories he gifted us. His light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. Crishun's story, albeit brief, will forever be etched in the tapestry of our lives, a beautiful, delicate thread woven with love.
