He was predeceased by: his son-in-law John Carl Howell, Sr.; and his parents, William Collier Barksdale and Lola Gunnells Barksdale. He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Tilley Barksdale; his children, Melissa Howell, Christie Wilson (Mike), Amy Foster (Jonathan), Ashley Barksdale and David Barksdale (Nicole); his sisters, Ruth Shumpert and Ann Cumberland (Carl); his grandchildren, Alecia Howell, John Carl Howell, Jr. (Jeanette), Lori Cooper (Stephen), Sierra Boisclair, Erin Barksdale, Hunter Brazeal, Harley Brazeal, Leslie Walker (Gary), Carson Foster, Jon Coleman Foster and Jennifer Jones; and his great grandchildren, Eleanor, Jennifer Cooper, Chezlie, Zaydee Hodo, Cody, Rebecca, Courtney, Kaitlyn Walker, Tyler Perrigin, Gage Jones and Kendall King. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Free Will Baptist Children's Home, 86 Academy.
