He was predeceased by: his parents, James Akin and Mary Johnson Akin; his former wife Angela Acevedo Akin; and his grandson Connor Jacobs. He is survived by: his wife Laurel O'Connor Akin; and his stepchildren, Emily Nix, Jack Jacobs (Kristen) and Michael Jacobs (Jennifer). He is also survived by five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
