She was predeceased by: her parents, Katherine Langham Purdy and Claude Purdy; her husbands, Walter Hardy and Durwood Bruce; her daughter Deborah Faye Hardy; her grandchildren, Amy Hardy and Jeremy Bruce; her siblings, Mayford Escue and Charles Purdy (Bub); and her sister-in-law Frankie Purdy.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon Anderson (Dewayne), Carol Hardy Sellers, Renay Bruce, Walter E Hardy, Kenneth Hardy (Susan) and Gary Bruce (Cathy); her grandchildren, Shannon Jimmerson (Doug), Susan Broyles (Kevin), Joshua Hardy (Tanya), Amanda Mathis (Bart), Staci Peterson, Hunter Sellers (Katiera), Luther Hardy (Melissa), Heather Brooks (Joe) and Megan Knight; her sisters, Shelby Williams (TN) and Shirley "Sissy" Gentry (AL); her sister-in-law Barbara Hardy (MS); and her brother Bill Purdy (MS). She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church (13534 US-84, Newton, AL 36352). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Building Fund or to Pilgrim Home Cornerstone (Senior Citizen) Fund address 13534 US 84 West Newton, Al. 36352.
