He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Flowers Johnson; his parents, Comer Mixon and Kitty Eudora Johnson; and his siblings, Joseph Johnson and Marilyn.

He is survived by: his brothers-in-law, Don Flowers (Linda) of Jack, AL and Charles Whatley of Jack, AL; and his caregiver Ellie Gideon of Elba, AL. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
