He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Nelson; his children, Van Nelson and Patty Turner; his granddaughter Tesha Lee; and his great grandchild Hunter Allen.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne "Pojo" Nelson (Cindy) of Glenwood, AL, Paul Nelson (Shelia) of Asheboro, NC, Dretta Allen of Elba, AL and Melinda Lee Pope (Don) of Elba, AL; and his siblings, Phillip Nelson (Terry) of Elba, AL, Faye Sauls (Mike) of Thomaston, GA and Sybil Hines of Elba, AL.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
