She was predeceased by: her parents, Dave Vaughan and Lillie Mae Morrow Vaughan; her former husband Robert Lamar McDowell; her son David Lamar McDowell Stokes (Bill Stokes); and her siblings, Jack David Vaughan and Martha Vaughan Tatom Meacham.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cynthia "Cyndi" Stokes Darnell (Conie Mac) of Macon, Georgia, Susan Stokes Lawford (Dennis) of Elba and Jackie Stokes Hallford (Don) of Ozark; her daughter-in-law Suzanne "Susie" Prior Stokes of Ashville; and her sisters-in-law, Jean Roberts Vaughan of Elba and Roylene McDowell Sellers of Enterprise. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
