He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Lee Loden and Elouise Loden. He is survived by: his wife Debra Loden; his sons, Michael W. Loden and John I. Loden Jr.; his daughter-in-law Shannon Loden; his grandchildren, Carrington Thornton, Michael G. Loden and Sarah Loden; and his great grandchild Zara Thornton.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Valhalla Funeral Home (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613). A burial was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at the Valhalla Memorial Gardens (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613).
In addition to his contributions to education, John served his country with honor for over three decades in the U.S. Army Alabama National Guard from 1970 until his retirement in August 2004.
