He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Audrey Louise Boyce Ivy and Elmer Webster "Buck" Ivy; his wife Sandra Hipsh Ivy; his daughters, Johnette Deann Nelson (William) and Katrena Elandrea Darring (Chuck); his siblings, Mary Jo Herrington (Robin Ramsey), Diane Ivy Morgan (Mike), Elmer Wayne Ivy (Patsy) and Robert Wesley Ivy (Margaret); his grandson James David Jones; and his great grandchildren, Louanna, Giovanna and Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to James's favorite charity; St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
