He was predeceased by : his parents, Harvel Thomaston and Seleta Thomaston (Strickland); and his sister Euna Underwood. He is survived by : his children, Deborah Henderson (Rick) and Phillip Thomaston (Elizabeth); his grandsons, Jared, Jacob Henderson, Andrew and Will Thomaston; and his siblings, Barbara Kirtley, Kelsie Johnson, Brenda Slay, Linda Brannon and Donald Thomaston (Don). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
