He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd L. Smith, Sr. and Flora Mai O'Neal Smith; his siblings, James Ross O'Neal, Ann Smith Lumpkin and Pat Smith Hanners; and his grandsons, Baron and Branson Durham.
He is survived by: his wife Martha D. Smith; his children, Candice L Smith and Patrick N. Smith (Celeste); the mother of his children Cathy Forman Smith; his sons, Byron H. Durham (Lisa) and Brandon C. Durham (Natalie); his sisters, Liz Smith Horn and Sharon Smith McVay (Stanley); and his siblings-in-law, Agnes Smith O'Neal, Randy Hanners and Jim Lumpkin. He is also survived by 14 loving grandchildren, 2 precious great-grandchildren; and his loyal canine companion, Buddy.
