She was predeceased by: her parents, Biddie Cleo and Henry Vester McElroy; and her siblings, Melton Bloyce McElroy (Irena McElroy), Doyce McElroy (Mildred McElroy) and Jewel Morrison (Ralph Morrison).
She is survived by: her husband Alton Powell; her brother Orville Julious McElroy (Nancy Armbrester McElroy); her daughters, Sandra Powell Bernstein and Brenda Kay Powell; her granddaughters, Heidi Rose Powell and Sandi Kay McCulloch Pickett (Steven Pickett); and her great grandchild Sabra Kay Pickett (Gregory Floyd). She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews.
Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, none of her family could be there.
