She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Powell and Lillie Fielding Powell. She is survived by: her brothers, Earl Mitchell and Bobby Bryant; her husband Coleman Howard; her children, Robert Howard and Jane Hughes (Speedy); her grandchildren, Drew Howard, Krista Hughes, Ken Howard, Jay Howard (Jessica) and Wes Hughes (Melissa); her great grandchildren, Andrew Howard, Leah Howard, Ella Howard, Betsy Howard, Trey Hughes and Ingram Hughes; her nephew Craig Roberts; her niece Carla Hawley (Larry); and also, Reverend Harvey Beck and Gmama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First Baptist Church of Attalla; Litchfield Group Home (Hope, Inc), 809 Litchfield Avenue, East Gadsden 35903; or 12th Street Baptist Church, 800 West Grand Ave 35906, to "Mama Barnes" Sunday School Class.
