He was predeceased by: his parents, Rotheb Carpenter and Sylvia E. Carpenter; his brothers, Russell Carpenter and Herbie Carpenter of Chillicothe, Ohio; and his significant other Shirley Carpenter.
He is survived by: his children, Frank (Wanda Carpenter), James Jr. (Charity Carpenter), Anthony Carpenter of Red Level, Timothy (Amber Carpenter), Rebecca Carpenter of Andalusia, Jeffery Carpenter (Sylvia) of Red Level and Joe Buckman of Red Level; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Evan Carpenter, Skyler Ray and Scarlett Mae Carpenter. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and several friends.
