She was predeceased by: her husband Donovan Duwayne Nelson; her parents, Hobson Lamar Powell and Luzell Spain Powell; and her siblings, Robert Powell and Nola Powell Cockrell.
She is survived by: her children, Clint Nelson (Elizabeth), Johnny Nelson (Sandy), Donna Lay (Richard), Anthony Nelson (Belinda) and Karen Abney (JJ); her siblings, Janice Lolley, Anita Dooley and Hobson Powell, Jr.; and her siblings-in-law, Vivian Sutherland and Perry Nelson (Carolyn). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
