He was predeceased by: his parents, Janet Merritt and Samual Merritt; and his sister Ella Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Robbie Merritt (Honey); his sister Jane Myers; his sons, Thomas Burton Merritt, Jr., John Merritt and Samual Merritt; his stepchildren, Chuck Preston and Peppi Cooper (Jeff); his stepgrandchildren, Jon Preston, Kortney Cooper (Scott Bukosky), Kasey Cooper and Peyton Preston; and his cousins, Margaret Merritt, Fay Merritt, Deede James Scarborough, Becky D. Evans and John Duke. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other cousins.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Glover Funeral Home-Dothan (1468 Hartford Hwy, Dothan, AL 36301).
