He was predeceased by: his parents, John Philip and Sue Stapleton Shealy. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Brown Shealy; his children, Madeline Shealy Villar (Kirk) and Steadman Stapleton Shealy, Jr. (Ann); his brother John Philip Shealy, Jr. (Beth); and his brother-in-law Bobby Brown (Charlotte). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
