He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Franklin Garner and Tiny Etta Sasser Garner; his brothers, Frank Garner and Kenneth Garner; and his siblings-in-law, Agnes Garner and James Brown.
He is survived by: his children, J. T. Garner and Jessica Lepko (Michael); his grandchildren, Kaiden, C. J. and Zera; his siblings, Mary Smith, Susie Calloway (James), Shirley Brown and Billy Garner; and his sister-in-law Linda Garner. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
