She was predeceased by: her husband Clermon W. Nelson; her sons, Bo Nelson, Coach Charles Nelson and Colonel Francis Nelson; and her siblings, Dewey Douglas and Genelle Joiner.

She is survived by: her sons, Douglas Nelson (Beverly) of Montgomery and Thomas Nelson (Tina) of Dothan; her daughters-in-law, Shirley Nelson of Dothan and Jane Nelson of Dothan; her sister Eloise Spivey of Dothan; her sister-in-law Ruth Douglas; and her grandchildren, Rebecca Nelson, Jay Nelson, Joey Nelson, Jamie Nelson, Jill Nelson, Brandi Goss, Tracy Nelson, Terry Joe Nelson, Chris Nelson and Kara Youngblood. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
