She was predeceased by: her parents, Judge Boy Mathis and Annie Talbert Mathis. She is survived by: her husband Edward Blackmon; her children, Tommy R. and Felicia B.; and her sisters, Alma Mathis of New Haven, CT, Annie Dunlap of Dothan, Sarah Mathis of Dothan and Mary Reese of Dothan. She is also survived by six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
