He was predeceased by: his parents, Ollie Robert Atkinson and Myrtice Sutton Atkinson; and his brother Samuel James Atkinson (S. J.). He is survived by: his wife Louise Summers Atkinson; his children, Dana Denise Atkinson and Gregory Scott Atkinson (Janet); his sister Roberta Atkinson Wetherington of Greenville, S. C.; his grandchildren, Jason Anthony Atkinson, Trey Hunt (Slocomb) and Brittany Sanders (Hartford); his great grandchildren, Sadie Grace Sanders, Hartford, Jayden Atkinson, Dothan, Kade, Adler Hunt and Slocomb; and his sisters-in-law, Anna Lawhorn of Adel, GA., Mary Fountain of Valdosta, GA. and Doris Summers of Valdosta, GA.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
