He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Spurlock and Ruby Spurlock (Blackman). He is survived by: his children, Michelle Lingo (Ronald) and James Spurlock II (Renae); his grandchildren, Lindsay Davis and Jacob Lingo; and his great grandchildren, Brighton Davis and Lynnox Lingo.
