He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis and Annie Jean Newby-Bell; his former wife Elease Lowe-Bell; his daughter Diane Lingo; his grandson Antonio Maurice Lingo; his siblings, Wallace, James Edward, Herman, Willis Carl, Dollie Mae, Dovie Lou and Ila Jean; and his son-in-law Ernest Dill.
He is survived by: his brother William Thomas Bell; his aunt Anna Mae McCarty; and his children, Lonnie Charles Pruitt (Angela), Angela V. Bell-Jones (Matthew), James Earl Newby (Cassie), Nathan Charles Bell, Gwendolyn A. "Bookie" Bell, Vashita L. "Tweety" Bell and Yashica O. (Danielle). He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 27th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary (814 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL 36303). A celebration of life was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Pentecostal Deliverance Faith Temple (706 Beulah St, Dothan, AL 36303).
