It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stuart Mervin Peterson of Decatur, Alabama, who passed away on July 4, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his daughter Jaime Peterson; his parents, Dr. France Peterson and Major Monte I. Peterson; his sister Marjolaine Butler; and his grandmother Velva Peterson.

He is survived by: his wife Jane Peterson; his daughter Elizabeth Peterson; his grandchildren, Logan, Becca Uriarte and William Hayes; and his brothers, Mark Peterson (Betty) and Mike Kellen (Kathy). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
