He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Alvie Mayes and Ina Doris Fitch Mayes. He is survived by: his children, Trint Mayes (Trista) and Latosha Moore (Jahmeel); his siblings, Mark Mayes (Linda), Doris Knighten, Barbara Deaton (James) and JoAnn O'hara; and his great grandchild P. O. Box. He is also survived by Seven Grandchildren.
